DVD's for Teen Girls
Go beyond giving your teenaged daughter, niece or granddaughter the Twilight or High School Musical DVD series. Here are movies they will love that they may not already own. Teen girls love a good love story – or anything with Zac Efron or Robert Pattinson is in. These movies have everything girl wants from a movie – and grown women will love them too.
Remember Me (2010) PG-13
Robert Pattinson shines in this movie as Tyler, an angry young man who is struggling to come to terms after his older brother commits suicide. He meets Ally, a college girl who has lived through tragedy of her own. They fall in love but circumstances get in their way. The ending of this movie is unexpected and leaves you breathless.
The Notebook (2004) PG-13
Another great love story from author Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook will definitely bring tears to your eyes. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are Noah and Allie who come from different sides of the track yet fall in love. Allie’s well-to-do family does not approve of the poor Noah, and take her away. Noah sets out to prove himself worthy of Allie’s love. Predictable, yes, but done so well that you don’t mind.
17 Again (2009) PG-13
Zac Efron may be heading back to high school for this movie but with a twist. When Mike O’Donnell (played by Matthew Perry) wishes he was back in high school reliving his glory days, he suddenly finds himself 17 again (played by Zac Efron). Instead of going back in time though, he is 17 and in high school along with his teenaged son and daughter. Instead of following his dream of becoming a high school basketball star, he ends up helping his kids find their way in high school. It is a fun comedy/love story that teen girls and their mothers will both enjoy.
A Walk to Remember (2002) PG
Another tear-jerker by Nicholas Sparks. A Walk to Remember stars Mandy Moore who plays a young woman who has leukemia and Shane West who is the young man who falls in love with her. You can guess what will happen but you will use up the Kleenex throughout the movie anyway.
The Holiday (2006) PG-13
A sweet comedy/love story packed with stars and fun to watch. Two women (Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz) need a change from their lives and decide to trade homes over the holidays. They each meet an adorable man (Jude Law and Jack Black) who make their holiday extra special. Funny, cute and fun to watch.
The Proposal (2009) PG-13
Sandra Bullock plays a much-hated boss who finds out she will be deported (to Canada no less) so she forces her assistant, Andrew, (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her. When she is conned into going on a weekend visit to visit Andrew’s family in Alaska, (including grandma Betty White) her hard exterior begins to melt. This movie is the real thing – a funny, sweet love story.
